Resistance (weight) training is essential to burning fat, toning and maintaining your shape.
You burn less calories after a 30-40mn cardio workout (depending on the intensity) than after a weight session, because when you do weights your body keeps on burning calories for 36hours after the workout.
Also, having more muscle will accelerate your metabolism, burning more fat throughout the day.
